My new song ‘lullaby’ is out now!
I'm thrilled to announce my second song of my new musical journey!
About lullaby
It's been a long journey to finally arrive at the doorstep of the beautiful and rich tradition of the Bauls. When I began sharing mantra meditation (kirtan) with others in 2018, I simultaneously discovered a Baul song called 'Ma ke dak' (I call to mother), performed by singer-songwriter Trevor Hall. I was deeply drawn to this song, written in Bengali rather than Sanskrit, and felt compelled to learn it. However, the path to understanding Baul music wasn't straightforward. Unlike traditional learning methods, Baul songs are typically passed down from a master to a disciple. Nevertheless, I persisted.
A year later, I met Parvathy Baul at a workshop in Copenhagen, marking the beginning of a truly special connection. In January of this year, I visited her ashram, Sanatan Siddhashram, in West Bengal, India. It was a magical experience. Immersed in the rich cultural and spiritual atmosphere, I was deeply touched.
Inspired by the simplicity and purity of Baul music, I found myself composing new songs in English. Accompanied only by piano, bass, and harmonium, these songs reflect the peace and tranquility I found in the ashram and my encounters with Parvathy Baul and the other Baul masters there. I am so grateful for this experience and excited to share my new song, 'lullaby', with you. Please listen, enjoy, and share!
